Recently, we took a trip to Disneyland for a few days. Before we left California, we went to Newport Beach. I always say I’m going to do this – relax on the beach before returning to the desert. I have visions of laying on a soft beach towel, rubbing on some coconut scented sunscreen, and reading some bestselling fiction. Then, when I’m faced with the reality of possible sunburn and tracking all that sand back into the car after I’ve spent two very long days at an amusement park, I usually decline.
This time was different and I can’t tell you how glad I am not to have missed the opportunity. The sand was like warm brown sugar and the water was coolly invigorating… on your feet and legs. Not when splashed on your whole body, as Madison found out, because then it was freezing.
