Happy Rednesday: Music
To celebrate this Rednesday I’m listening to my 3 favorite “red” songs.
Red Rain by Peter Gabriel (1986)
This is my second favorite Peter Gabriel song. The first would be In Your Eyes. Who could forget Lloyd Dobler holding his boom box outside of Diane Court’s window? I think I have the entire script of Say Anthing memorized.
Raspberry Beret by Prince (1985)
Little Red Corvette might have been more apropos but Raspberry Beret is the best Prince song as far as I’m concerned. Here’s a piece of trivia for you: the words “thunder drowns out what the lightning sees” were misheard by members of the group who named themselves “The Lightning Seeds” after the mistaken lyrics.
99 Red Balloons by Nena (1983)
I also like the German version of this song, 99 Luftballons. I don’t sing or do karaoke but I always thought this would be a fun one to do in German. I memorized the words to R.E.M.’s It’s the End of the World as We Know It specifically for that purpose, should the occasion ever arise. Okay, now I’m revealing what a geek I am.
Can you tell I like 80s music? My iPod is full of 80s tunes. What’s on your playlist?
